Recently, Scania has expanded its electric vehicle lineup by launching its first fully battery-powered CrewCab (two-row cab) model, specifically designed for fire trucks, airport vehicles, and rescue vehicles.
The new Scania CP31L 4×2 features a 356 kWh battery capacity and is specifically designed for zero-emission operations in emergency rescue missions. According to Scania, this model strikes a balance between operational performance, reliability, and sustainability without compromising safety or comfort.
The Electric CrewCab features an open-sided chassis design, providing ample space for upper-mounted equipment manufacturers to customize according to specific application requirements. Consequently, Scania targets not only fire departments but also airport firefighting services, rescue companies, and other specialized emergency response organizations.
Louise Johansson, Solutions Manager for Scania’s Fire and Rescue, Airport and Rescue Departments, stated: « With the launch of the all-new battery-powered CrewCab, we’ve taken a significant step forward in electrifying rescue vehicles. This new cab exemplifies our commitment to supporting customers in achieving sustainable fleet management while maintaining operational reliability and a sound business case. »
According to Scania, the CrewCab is specifically designed for critical tasks under demanding conditions, with its core features focusing on ample passenger space, easy access, and maximum operational availability.
With the launch of the electric CrewCab, emergency rescue services can now opt for a fully electric Scania vehicle—for not only the driver but the entire crew. This move by the Swedish manufacturer marks another significant step toward developing zero-emission specialized vehicles.
