Computing infrastructure is driving the essential demand for power supply, prompting Weichai to comprehensively upgrade its systems to adapt to market transformations. According to a report by the International Energy Agency (IEA), global data center electricity consumption will surge from 415 billion kWh in 2024 to 945 billion kWh in 2030—a doubling within five years—with a compound annual growth rate of approximately 15%. Notably, electricity consumption in AI-specific data centers is expected to increase more than threefold. CICC estimates that China’s market growth is even more rapid, with the data center power generation unit market achieving a compound annual growth rate of nearly 20% from 2024 to 2028. As global computing infrastructure continues to expand and power standards for high-end projects keep upgrading, the international power supply-demand landscape is undergoing profound adjustments. However, the global supply capacity for high-end power generation equipment remains severely inadequate, leading to a widening gap between production capacity and demand, with order schedules generally extending into 2028–2029.
Weichai seized this golden opportunity, leveraging its decades of expertise in power and energy technologies to intensify R&D efforts and expand production capacity. While ensuring product performance and quality on par with international standards, the company significantly shortened delivery timelines. Its exceptional delivery capabilities combined with superior product quality have created strong market competitiveness, continuously driving business growth and accelerating the momentum of its power and energy business.
In the first quarter of 2026, Weichai’s power energy business, represented by data center power generation, experienced explosive growth, becoming a new growth driver for the company’s performance. Among these, large-bore high-end engines have emerged as the most valuable and highly promising core segment in the power equipment industry, characterized by high technological barriers, excellent profitability, and strong growth potential. During the quarter, sales of Weichai’s M-series large-bore engines exceeded 3,000 units, while those for data center power generation products surpassed 500 units—a year-on-year increase of over 240%—making them a benchmark for phenomenal industry growth.
As a leading enterprise in the power generation sector that offers a comprehensive range of energy solutions across all applications, Weichai has developed a complete product portfolio integrating traditional, clean, and new energy fuels through years of technological innovation and project implementation. Its products cover engine displacements from 2.3 to 122 L, providing customers with integrated power supply solutions. All products hold global mainstream certifications and comply with regulatory requirements worldwide, meeting the power demands of high-end applications such as backup power generation and continuous power supply systems.
The core products showcased at the GPOWER Power Exhibition—including the WGFH2000 land-based generator set, 20M55 gas-powered generator engine for land use, 4M06 and 4M10 diesel generators for land use, as well as WP13 and WP17T methanol-powered generators—are flagship models developed by Weichai in response to evolving market demands. These units offer comprehensive power output capabilities and diverse fuel options, precisely meeting the tailored electricity needs of various high-end applications such as data centers, power plants, combined heat and power systems, and engineering leasing projects.
A series of flagship projects have been successfully implemented globally, demonstrating Weichai’s comprehensive capabilities across all application scenarios. Leveraging forward-looking strategies and end-to-end solutions, Weichai has executed numerous landmark initiatives in key sectors—including high-performance computing for data centers, major infrastructure projects, and green/low-carbon demonstration programs—establishing itself as a benchmark provider of premium power solutions and solidifying its brand’s robust expertise.

In high-end data center computing scenarios, M-series high-power generator sets have become the preferred choice for customers. Domestically, 60 units of the 12M55 generator set were deployed in Zhongwei, Ningxia, ensuring reliable power supply for the national-level computing hub under the « East Data, West Computing » initiative; 15 units of the 12M55 diesel generator set were delivered to a data center in Zhejiang, providing stable power support for core digital economy infrastructure in the Yangtze River Delta region. Additionally, Weichai has established strategic partnerships with leading telecommunications operators and internet companies, facilitating the successful completion of numerous data center projects. Currently, Weichai collaborates with top domestic and international internet clients, telecom operators, and data center colocation service providers, with its products deployed across major computing hubs including the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region, the Yangtze River Delta, the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, as well as Ningxia and Guizhou.

Globally, Weichai’s 12M55 and 16M33 generator sets have been deployed in power plants in Indonesia and mining sites across Africa, delivering outstanding performance under complex and harsh operating conditions while providing customers with reliable, stable power supply. For a data center project in Latin America, the entire process—from meeting customer requirements and developing customized solutions to completing testing and delivery of the 16M55 units—took merely two months, significantly enhancing customers’ perception of Weichai. These high-efficiency delivery capabilities and robust system stability have enabled the products to successfully penetrate premium overseas markets in Southeast Asia, the Middle East, Europe, and North America.
In the realm of large-scale public infrastructure, Weichai has developed a comprehensive emergency power supply system specifically tailored for Xiamen Xiang’an International Airport. The system comprises 25 M33/M55 series generator sets that provide full coverage across critical areas such as the terminal operations control center, supporting hotels, and cargo terminals, establishing a robust power supply safeguard for this major aviation hub through all-scenario resilience. Additionally, Weichai generators are widely deployed as emergency power sources in numerous key hospitals across China, including those in Beijing, Tianjin, and Shandong, ensuring uninterrupted operation of medical equipment and reinforcing the essential « lifeline » for emergency power supply to public welfare needs.
In the new energy power sector, Weichai continues to lead the industry: China’s first pure hydrogen internal combustion engine generator set was successfully connected to the grid and operates stably at the Wuxi Huaguang Solar Microgrid project, establishing a critical pathway for local utilization of industrial by-product hydrogen and providing a replicable Weichai solution for zero-carbon park development.
As the seventh key business segment prioritized by the group, power energy has become a pivotal growth driver for Weichai’s transformation and upgrading. Leveraging its strengths in diversified fuel and technological approaches—including diesel, natural gas, methanol, and hydrogen energy—Weichai continues to focus on high-end markets such as data centers, large-scale infrastructure projects, and green industrial parks, solidifying its advantage in domestic substitution through comprehensive power energy solutions across all domains. Looking ahead to medium-and long-term development, Weichai will capitalize on two major industry opportunities: global computing capacity expansion and low-carbon transition, steadily expanding its presence in both domestic and international high-end power equipment markets while advancing toward its goal of becoming a global leader in this sector.
